Turneffe Island Lodge

Back to Hotel & Resort Directory

Turneffe Island Lodge is situated on its own private island 30 miles offshore of Belize City. It is surrounded by one of the most fertile marine eco-systems in the world. There are over 70 dive sites less than 1/2 mile from the Lodge, recognized as one of the top diving and flats fishing destinations in the Caribbean.

All of the Lodge’s 7 private cabanas and 12 standard rooms are air-conditioned.

Turneffe Island Lodge also offers snorkeling, kayaking, and beachcombing. The Lodge features a first-class dining room and lounge, and offers day trips to the Lighthouse Atoll.

Anglers can cast to several different species of fish on the flats, lagoons, shore lines, coral reefs and offshore.

The Lodge can only accommodate 12 fishermen, 20 divers and 8 beachcombers per week. Thus, guests are assured of an exclusive experience.

Turneffe Island's packages include accommodations in their superior lodge rooms. There are four lodge buildings with multiple rooms. Each room has a private bath and shower, air conditioning, and ceiling fans. Rooms with two beds are also available upon request. To ensure your added comfort, all windows have screens and may be opened to enjoy the ocean breeze.

The majority of rooms have a queen bed and single bed configuration. There is ample solar heated hot water, air conditioning and power as the resort's central power plant was engineered to ensure all guests' needs and comforts. The power supplied on the island is American standard at 110 volts and runs 24 hours a day.
The island office has a supply of hair dryers, irons and alarm clocks on hand for guest use.

Private Cabanas:

Along the southern coastline of the island, there are eight private cabanas that have been designed and constructed to maximize the Caribbean experience.

Each unit is located on the oceanfront and is nestled between the coconut palms lining this side of the island. The interior of each cabana from floor to ceiling is constructed from Belizean mahogany, known as some of the finest in the world.

The cabanas have been designed with over-sized windows and screened porches to allow for spectacular views.

The final design feature was the addition of a private outdoor shower.
Each cabana has a separate dressing area with an oversized closet.

The cabanas are either furnished with a queen and full sized bed or with a queen bed and sitting arrangement. The sitting arrangement consists of a loveseat and two chairs which is ideal for socializing in the evenings.

The private cabanas are without question the most preferred accommodation on the island as they allow the opportunity to enjoy the privacy and solitude that is so often sought when someone travels to a remote destination.

Dining and Lounge:

Like all of the buildings on the island, the dining room and lounge is located along the oceanfront. You'll enjoy spectacular array of Belizean, Caribbean, and continental cuisine during your stay.

Lodge serves 3 full meals a day, including a hot breakfast, at set times in our dining room. Snacks are available throughout the day and hors d'oeuvres are served prior to dinner. Meals are served family style and dinner includes appetizer, entree, and dessert. Meals that you may never forget include Snapper with Lemon Nut Crust, Coconut Shrimp, Fillet of Beef, or Grilled Lobster.

The lodge published a cookbook, Turneffe Island Lodge cookbook. You can purchase one on the island.
The freshly prepared desserts are the crown jewels of the dining experience; Key Lime Pie to Chocolate Heaven to Coconut Cream Pie made from the islands coconuts.

They carry a full compliment of premium spirits along with several of the finest single malt scotches in the lounge. If your preference is for port or cognac, you simply need to ask.
