Jaguar Paw Jungle Lodge

~About a thousand years ago, Jaguar Paw was renowned as a great leader of Maya Indians. Today the name is gaining fame again, this time as the jungle resort ~

Back to Hotel & Resort Directory

Spectacular dining room and bar with 25-foot ceilings.

Jaguar Paw Jungle Lodge is a totally unique resort hidden beneath rainforest canopy on the Caves Branch River with one of Belize’s largest and most renowned cave systems only steps from its front door. On the 200-acres of Jaguar Paw are the mouths of three awesome caves with vestiges of their use by Mayan ancestors.

With guests in boats or wearing inner tubes, experienced guides lead the way through the labyrinth of waterways connecting the caves. But without getting their feet wet guests aided by a knowledgeable guide can stalk the jungle paths for signs of wild animals, to spot some of the more than 500 species of birds, to recognize the medicinal herbs, and to hear about the jungle ghosts from the Belizean Bushmen who believe in them. And, not far in either direction from the resort are ancient ruins awaiting exploration.

Jaguar Paw snuggles in thick lush jungle near the crystalline waters of the Caves Branch River, offering top-notch adventure in the day with cool, comfortable surroundings at night. Sixteen one-of-a kind uniquely decorated air conditioned rooms provide the conveniences of home smack in the middle of Belize's pristine rain forest.

There's a full service lodge at Jaguar Paw which houses a well-stocked bar and dining room offering some of the best authentic Belizean gourmet cuisine. Fresh-picked fruits and vegetables from the wild and Jaguar Paw's own garden lend soulful heartwarming flavors to invigorate your next trek into the jungle.

Additional guest services include gift shop, satellite television in the lounge, laundry service, and use of telephone, fax, and e-mail.

Driving direction to Jaguar Paw: Take the Western Highway to just past mile 37. Look on you left for a concrete "bus stop shelter". There is a big green Jaguar Paw sign on top. Turn left onto a dirt/gravel road for about 6 miles. You will come up to the Government Park. Continue past it and drive over the hill to the Resort.
