Two moderate hotels in Cayo District referred to as: "Cayo Cabanas"

Each hotel in this group offers the best in moderately priced accommodations in Cayo District.

1) Nestled in the hills of El Cayo, Lodge overlooks the scenic Belize River Valley. Located only 72 miles west of Belize City, near the town of San Ignacio, this lodge is the perfect hideaway whilst visiting this jewel of a country, Belize.

Built next to an old ancestral royal Mayan ruin, from which the village takes it name. Mayan residents hosted visiting royalty from other cities, and that's our aim at Cahal Pech, to give our guest royal treatment.

It is perfectly situated to take in the scenic beauty and atmosphere of El Cayo. Witness from the village the spectacular views of the twins towns of San Ignacio and Santa Elena, the Macal River and villages of Santa Familia and Bullet Tree Falls. The excellent view as far as the Mennonite settlement of Spanish Lookout, the Mayan ruin of Xunantunich and of course the beautiful Maya Mountains.

Its thatched roof cabanas and natural surroundings takes you back to a time long forgotten. The rooms in the main building have the same type of accommodation as the cabanas with an even more spectacular view. The interiors of both are fully decked out in Mayan fabrics and the furniture are locally crafted. Each cabana and room are named after a Mayan ruin and has its own personality and charm.

Spot the colorful migrant birds which feed in the surrounding trees of the village, and the flock of toucans who pays you a fleeting visit now and again. Because of hillside location you will enjoy the cool evenings and early morning breeze while relaxing on the privacy of your veranda.

2) The resort is located in the lush jungle and along side the beautiful Macal River and only 4 miles south of San Ignacio town in western Belize.

It was hand built by the Tut family, using the ancient art of palm-thatched roofs that compliment with the natural beauty of Belize.
